Ohio Statewide Network Launches for Children’s Mental Health
A statewide initiative is launching that will help family doctors and pediatricians go beyond treating only the physical needs of young patients. The Pediatric Psychiatry Network will help physicians better address mental health needs.
The director of psychiatry at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Dr. Michael Sorter, says Ohio’s youth with psychiatric disorders and their primary care physicians have had critical problems gaining access to needed care.
“Often, young people who have significant mental health concerns go untreated for long periods of time and often don’t get treated the way they should be – or at all.”
