US Department of Education Seeks Feedback About Special Ed in Illinois
This fall, the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) will be reviewing whether the State of Illinois is correctly following the rules and regulations for Early Intervention Services. This program is also known as Part C of IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Act).
OSEP will visit the Illinois Dept. of Human Services on November 2, 2010, to conduct this review.
In order to assess whether Illinois is following federal law and delivering effective services, OSEP wants Illinois parents to share their knowledge of, and experiences with, the state’s special education system.
If you have a child with disabilities who has recently received or is currently receiving special ed. services, you can express how you think the state is doing by filling out an online survey. The data and comments from the survey will be compiled and a summary delivered to the U.S. Dept of Education and the Illinois State Board of Education. The deadline for taking the survey is Oct. 1, 2010.
Please click the link below to learn more about taking the survey.
