After you set up your profile, you can manage your notification settings. Notifications are automatic emails from the site letting you know when something has happened like if someone replies to your post or mentions you in an update. You will also see pending notifications in the dark gray bar at the top of the site (if you are logged in, you will see this bar at the top of your browser window).
If you do not want to get emails for certain events, you can change this by going to your profile page and choosing “Settings.”
Then you can choose “Notifications.”
You will see the entire list of notifications and you can choose which ones you want to receive in your email and which ones you don’t.
You can also wait until you get a notification because at the bottom of the email will be a direct link to your profile notification settings.
