About Me

Excited to be moderating "Organizing…Specialized!

I am certified teacher with a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Curriculum and my passion is empowering families. Since 1993, I have had the privilege of working with families with young children who have special needs. My mission (using sensitivity, patience, and a dose of wit and whimsy) is to help families reduce stress in their lives.

In 2010, I began the transition from the field of Early Childhood Special Education to Professional Organizing. As a member of the National Association for Professional Organizers (NAPO), NAPO's Chicago Chapter, and the Institute for Challenging Disorganization (ICD), I have learned and implemented a variety of interesting organizing strategies! My business, Declare Order Professional Organizing, allows me to provide direct service within the home environment.

I have two kids, each special in their own way. My teenager is gifted (a different kind of special) and is allergic to Peanuts, most tree-nuts, dairy, egg, sesame, ragweed, and cats. She carries an epi-pen at all times. My son is highly sensitive and highly active, resulting in the need for informal daily modifications. For example, he does not wear jeans, eat meat, or still for long. He wears elastic waistband pants, eats a limited variety of foods, and we have a hiking hammock set-up in the basement to swing him, as needed.
