    I just wanted to introduce myself to the community. My daughter was just diagnosed with PDD-NOS last month and I have sort of been reeling from it. I have known there was something going on with her for a while that wasn’t right, but I guess I was in denial that it was autism, as I thought doctors and her therapist would have caught that much earlier in life.

    Anyway, I am looking to connect with people who are also bloggers in the autism community to get some support – I REALLY need it right now.

    I blog on my personal & writing website, http://cheney.me and also have set up a blog just for my posts about my daughter, her diagnosis, and our new world here: http://spectrummy.blogspot.com

    I hope you will visit, comment, and say hello – I will return the favor!

    • Sorry to hear you’re struggling right now. I know it takes time for some people. I didn’t feel like we were at our new normal for 6 months to a year although it got better each day. My kids have had kidney transplants and my son has mental health issues (4 people have said 6 different things). Anyway, just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I’m going to start a topic right now about new to a dx.

      Hi Cheney,
      My son does not have an Autism diagnosis but I am a professional in the field so I predominately work with individuals with Autism. I have a blog for my son http://www.midnightpotofcoffee.blogspot.com. I am knew to blogging, but I still try to share resources on Autism and related disorders. I also feed into some other sites that discuss Autism treament approaches. Let me know what I can help with. :)

    • Cheney – I haven’t been around the web as much this week as we were dealing with a bit of a crisis with my oldest, but we have three kids on the autism spectrum here, and I blog about that at my site, Kat’s Cafe — http://katscafe.org … and will be writing here at the Support for Special Needs Site once in a while soon.

      It’s hard to adjust to a new diagnosis, and especially with autism there are so many different variables for every point under the spectrum that your child might fall under. Our kids have a rare disorder, so they have autism, epilepsy and some other disorders including low vision, and we’ve been through the diagnosis merry-go-round so many times I’ve lost count (and still going through it!). It always takes some time to adjust … always!

      This is a great community here to be a part of, and also feel free to message me here at any time or even friend me on FB if you are there (http://fb.me/KatrinaLMoody ). If I can help I’m happy to! {{hugs}}

    • Hi Cheney I would like to help anyway I can. I have a mild form of autism called Asperger’s syndrome and I will check out your sites for sure.
