I’ve posted elsewhere on this site, but it was recommended that I post here. My brother is a professor and his specialty is studying fatherhood. One of the areas he studies is fathers of children with special needs. Not much has been published on the subject. It’s mostly the mothers who have been focused on. He’s done some interesting research, and presented at a lot of conferences, but he and his team just haven’t written up the articles for publication yet. But today, he sent me this article: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/0163638394900175 It’s one of the only published articles out there looking at fathers and children with illness. The really interesting take away from the article is that the more fathers were involved in the actual treatment of their child’s illness the more they interacted positively with their child. I just thought I’d share it with anyone interested.
