What “normal” foods can they eat? (They have lots of food allergies and people assume they can’t eat anything other kids do!)
How can I help him be more independent?

    - how much food does he usually eat (from the mom of a picky eater that survives on air)?
    - does not eating enough lunch affect his mood in the afternoon?
    - how does he deal with stress?
    - what causes him stress?
    - what is his favorite activity so that we can highlight that?
    - what is his most hated activity so that we can be prepared?
    - what is he most worried about for this school year?

WOW! I will be asking those questions to my parents. Most of the time I remember to ask things like. How do you handle this certain behavior at home? What do you find that works for you? How can I best help you?

How can we help _______ through a hurdle? What’s worked at home?
What do they love to do/what are they good at? (so we can build on it)
What is your biggest fear for the year? (let’s come together to see how we can avoid it!)
What’s the best way to communicate…phone, person, email, daily notes, weekly notes?

How would you like me to discuss her special needs with other children when they ask?
