    Site co-founder and tired special needs mom to two cute kids; Gage and Quinnlin. Kids who’ve endured more than their share of medical and emotional issues. ARPKD (recessive polycystic kidney disease), ocularmotor apraxia, delays, IEPs,mental illness, kidney failure, dialysis, and kidney transplants

    For me, it’s how my son has tested in 6th grade but all of the scores they’ve given us are really low to low. Writing? 1st-2nd grade (handwriting) the rest between 3rd and 5th grade. He’s got catching up to do, but how much can we really expect? Maybe more because he’s in a small private school, but still. So daunting.

    This week, it was hearing the neurosurgeon tell me that he thinks Micah is going to have to have a tethered cord release on a fairly regular basis. Major spinal surgery that also requires a minor brain surgery to make sure it’s not his shunt causing the problems before we do the spine again. It’s a painful condition, and it had our entire family miserable for months this year. And there’s no way to prevent it.
