I started this group because my second child was born at 27 weeks 1 day gestation. I experienced PROM (premature rupture of the membranes) at only 15 weeks gestation, and was told my son would be stillborn and would never make it to viability. When we surprised everyone by making it to 24 weeks without going into labor the docs said because my son had been without amniotic fluid for so long he wouldn’t have the lung development necessary to sustain his life, and would only live for a minute or two after birth. Tukker kept cooking for 3 more weeks before being born, and he refused to listen to the docs who kept saying he wouldn’t live. He had a very difficult course in the newborn intensive care unit, but after 4 months he got to come home with us! He was on oxygen for a year, he’s had multiple surgeries, and now he has lots of therapy and doctors visits, but otherwise he’s doing great! I’d love to hear more about your preemie experience and how your little one is doing.
