Hi! My dd is almost 7. She was adopted at the age of 2 from China. We had Babies Can’t Wait evaluate her within 6 months of being home. They found some speech and sensory issues and we started therapies weekly. She has had an IEP with the school since she was 3 y.o. She seemed to be catching up developmentally by Kindergarten. She was started on meds for ADD/ADHD during that school year. We had her repeat Kindergarten with the expectation that she would catch up. About 6 months ago, she was hospitalized for aggressive and dangerous behaviors by her doctor. They diagnosed her with Bipolar but didn’t change any of her meds just upped her dosage to a point where she didn’t have the energy to fight. We promptly changed doctors to one at the Marcus Autism Center and set up testing for Fetal Alcohol Syndrome to rule it out. The testing will be in 3 weeks. She is now on Lithium, Depakote and Tenex. She is doing better with her raging and aggression but is still quite defiant. Just recently she has started having trouble climbing stairs. She has an appt with her pediatrician tomorrow but after talking with her last night she mentioned that it sounds like motor planning problems. Does anyone have any experience with a loss of motor planning functions or any other info would be helpful?
