I am desperately worried about my son’s future. I think I need to have a spot reserved for him NOW that he can go to when he needs it THEN, even if it is ten, fifteen, twenty years in the future. Because I am afraid that if we don’t have it reserved for him NOW (whether it be in a…[Read more]

Autism Support 10 months, 1 week agoGood: Matthew learned to ride a two-wheeler last week! Bad: I wore myself out taking him to bike camp and everywhere else I needed to go, as well as getting up at 5 am to take my husband to the bus stop!

Autism Support 11 months, 2 weeks agoI am doing my best to hang in there now – I suppose even though the year ended terribly, there is also a lot of relief that the school year is over and we can focus on Elise now – herself, not her self when she is […]

Autism Support 11 months, 2 weeks agoCheney…nearly all the parents of kids with special needs have been where you are…reeling. I think the worst for me is/was the unknowns of what my kids were diagnosed with.

Autism Support 11 months, 2 weeks agoI just wanted to introduce myself to the community. My daughter was just diagnosed with PDD-NOS last month and I have sort of been reeling from it. I have known there was something going on with her for a while that wasn’t right, but I guess I was in denial that it was autism, as I thought doctors and her therapist would have caught that much…[Read more]

Sorry to hear you’re struggling right now. I know it takes time for some people. I didn’t feel like we were at our new normal for 6 months to a year although it got better each day. My kids have had kidney transplants and my son has mental health issues (4 people have said 6 different things). Anyway, just wanted to say hello and introduce…[Read more]

Cheney – I haven’t been around the web as much this week as we were dealing with a bit of a crisis with my oldest, but we have three kids on the autism spectrum here, and I blog about that at my site, Kat’s Cafe — http://katscafe.org … and will be writing here at the Support for Special Needs Site once in a while soon.
It’s hard to adjust…[Read more]

I hope you get some clarity soon on some of the issues or ideas. I help my nephew who also has special needs and aged out. I was finally able to get him disability and he survives on that, but it’s not much and we supplement…[Read more]
